Journey From Brazil, End With Cheerfulness Wedding In Bali

I would like to tell you about my first job I got from Bridestory which was a multi request: photography and videography for Brazil wedding. The project started with a tough negotiation about the price with the client who were from Brazil and also staying in Jakarta. After getting the down payment, we planned to meet the documentation and wedding organizer team one day right before “the day”.

They shared a lovely moment in printed photos. It’s a cross country journey.

Meet and Greet

We talked a while, and after seeing Mary (the bride) who cried at that time, I began to feel what she might feel. Anxiety, either about the preparation or about the excitement for the wedding on the next day. I tried to make her feeling better by saying everything would be okay.

Although their wedding wasn’t grand and their parents couldn’t attend the bestowal ceremony because of the unfortunate distance, they already had solution for it. We finished the meeting about technical detail, then headed back to prepare it.

The Brazilian Wedding Procession

The sacred time was finally up. The documentation team had already arrived an hour before. Five of us started to do the documentation from the beginning of the preparation and decoration. Not long after that, the groom (Cau) arrived, followed by a few of guests.

We decided to split up the team into two: one with the groom, and the other one (include myself) waited for the queen — I mean the one and only bride, Mary. He.. he.. he… We take some pictures of her when she came before waiting for the groom to pick up his lovely bride.

Cau came and go with Mary to began the sacred process of their wedding. I never expected that the guests who came weren’t from just one country, but several! There were guests from China, Australia, Brazil, and also Indonesia.

Some of them captured the moments by their own mobile phone via Instagram live so their family who couldn’t come now could watch from far. The messages sent from them who couldn’t attend were also read by the guests as representatives.

Then all the guests gave their blessings as the bestowal of the wedding ring ceremony began, continued with toast, first kiss, and wedding sign.

Let’s Make This Lovely Just Married Brazil Couple Express Their Happiness

After the ceremony, the guests got some free time before dinner time. That was when we took the just married couple to the beach for photo and video shoot session.

We experimented with the sunlight. They were so attractive. We didn’t have to tell them much instructions to get pictures with perfect mood as they were so spontaneous to express their feelings at that time. They jumped, danced, and carried the wife naturally, therefore we could shoot the moment easily with many techniques such as flash, silhouetted, and multiple exposures.

Yesssss! Cau: “Let’s go to the moon, Honey!” I actually has a big smile when capture this photo. You don’t need to describe what happiness is, you express it like this one.

We continued our project at dinner time, where the place was rather dark so we definitely using flash and additional lights for the lightning. We played with slow motion shoot and flash second curtain and got the results as the back lights moved but the object stood still, and we also using the multiple exposures method.

Finally I Want To Say This …

This wedding shoot was fun at all. The bride, groom, and guests are cheerful. Their cheerfulness make our team more excited to capture every moment. The event looked simple but elegant, so suitable with the humble and friendly couple we worked with. Many unique things I hadn’t seen like any other weddings, like live streaming on Facebook and many messages from their family and relatives.

We were having so much fun to record every unforgettable moment on the wedding. Although at that time I actually had a stomachache (because I forgot to had lunch punctually) and caught a cold which was rather annoying for me, but the solid team I had made up everything until the project finished well.
