There is no more romantic than a rain and a kiss. And if this happened when you celebrate the wedding, that’s definitely memorable.

This wedding was my friend’s. We knew each other when I worked at a telecommunication provider. Her name is Indah, and she’s from Surabaya. Before she decided to do her wedding in Bali, she asked me about wedding in Bali and did a survey with wedding comparison in Lombok. Clearly I recommended wedding in Bali to her. Not only was there more options for venues, but also because I knew more details about the wedding preparations, especially the related vendors.
The Bride Decision
Finally Indah decided to get a wedding in Bali and I also got a special mandate to help make the event a success. My team and I got a task in the documentation. Yes, of course, because our expertise is indeed there. I was assisted by a wedding organizer who happened to be able to meet, namely Jessica from the Eight Wedding Organizer.
After a kind of complex negotiation because of the distance, Indah finally decided to make a wedding at Villa Karang. They came for a location survey with me and Jessica. It was there that I knew Deven, the future husband of Indah (at that time). Deven is a native Chinese and is very active in business. He was still very rigid to speak Indonesian. Assisted by Indah finally everyone agreed to the wedding planning made by Jessica (wedding organizer).
The Wedding Day Arrived
My team and I had been ready at the location. Arriving there, we immediately made photos and video preparation while waiting for the make up of bride and groom ready. We took some shoot details like rings, shoes, flowers, and other accessories.
We were also busy looking for a unique place to put these accessories without realizing that the important thing we’ve forgotten was the backup battery. The camera wouldn’t last just with one battery for an 8-hour wedding. Especially for video cameras.
So I sent Angga (photographer) to take it. And I myself covered with photo documentation. The distance was not so far but at that time it was heavy traffic hours. Angga hadn’t returned yet until the Grand Entrance event started.
Then the Grand Entrance began. Everyone were prepared in their respective positions. Two Videographers and one photographer. Yes, I was still alone because Angga still got stuck on the road.

Thankfully on the wedding I always use two cameras with wide and telephoto lenses that are 35mm and 85mm. I prefer to use a fix lens because besides getting a good deep of field, a fix lens also tends to be sharper than a zoom lens. A little helped by that.
But because of the vast place at Villa Karang Putih, I also had to be fast running to move positions to get different angles. In addition, I also made several creative shoots using cellphones as mirrors. Everything was covered well until the Ceremony was finished.

Angga came when the Ceremony had been over. It was intimate session after that. We invited the bride and groom around the villa looking for a nice photo spot, directing some poses and movements for photos and videos. We also directed their expressions.
It was easier to get expressions in intimate sessions than inprewedding because they have been feeling deep in it. Moreover, the intimate session was done after the Ceremony. We explored places and posed until the needs are met and then provided a break for brides because there will be a reception. At the break of the bridal break, we prepared equipment for reception shoots or night shoots. Because most receptions started at 6 or 6.30.
Reception was held outdoor, I got a liitle bit worry if the rain came because that time was at the rainy season. In preparation for this reception/dinner we also capture every detail of the decoration and table set.
And The Rain Make It Romantic
The evening session began. We were getting ready in a position with enough flash settings and additional effects using filters. Shortly after dinner, drizzling rain began to fall. The team from the Wedding Organizer swiftly moved the bridal table to the shady area. Shortly after that, it eased a little, so it can be used to dance and wedding kiss on the floating stage. Despite drizzling rain, we got a more dramatic picture. With additional lighting and a little rain, a romantic atmosphere increased.

The evening session was ended with after party and chit chat with Indah and Deven’s friends from Surabaya. And we prepared the raw files into a flashdisk for them to preview later when we arrived in Surabaya and chose the photos that we wanted to edit and inserted into the album.
